Before the kite festival could start, There were several attempts to get the Spirit of Glen Ellen, a Wright Flyer replica into the air. Unfortunately, this is as close as it got in the almost non-existant winds.

The lack of wind did not keep Charlie Sotich and his crew of kite makers from making around 2000 kites during the day.

Here is the obligatory shot of my Trilobite after the wind had "bubbled up".

I was joined by Bob Rymaszewski, Greg and Carrie Rasberry and Barbara Wagner. All of those little specks in the background are the sled kites from Charlie's workshop.

Early in the day, this Circoflex was one of the few kites flying.
